How long does it take to have cancer?

One thing that when I was diagnosed with cancer was to think back when I actually got it and the causes. Not because I was looking at sometime to blame but to understand so that I could prevent future relapses.

I talked to an Ayurvedic doctor and he told me that cancer takes times to develop. According to him, cancer may not develop in one or two years but many years before. I stumbled on this article which basically says the same thing.

What I believe to take away from the doctor's advice and the article is that what you do now impacts you 5 to 10 years down the road. Cancer may take decades to develop and then become dangerous. So while the cancer is developing and if you could do something to shrink and eliminate it, you could possibly have avoided being a cancer victim altogether. Now, isn't that a nice thought! I like what the article says "It's simple: what we do today determines our risk for disease tomorrow."

So start TODAY.. and reduce risk of most chronic, degenerative conditions, including almost all types of cancer:
  1. Limit intake of refined sugar.
  2. Limit intake of unhealthy oils that are rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids.
  3. Limit exposure to ionizing radiation and electromagnetic fields.
  4. Avoid use of oral contraceptives and hormone replacement drugs whenever possible.
  5. Minimize exposure to exogenous toxins like pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, dioxins, asbestos, volatile organic compounds, and polychlorinated biphenyls.
  6. Minimize or completely avoid use of recreational drugs.
  7. Optimize vitamin D status.
  8. Work at getting regular aerobic exercise and restful sleep.
  9. Strive to be emotionally balanced i.e. avoid living in a fight/flight state where sympathetic nervous system output dominates parasympathetic (rest/digest) tone.

A great man - looking at cancer

Those of us who have come face to face with cancer and beat cancer knows how humbling the experience can be. It is a life changing experience.

We know how important these factors are diet (nutrition), exercise and lifestyle in particular mind/soul realization are to beating and prevention of cancer.

What I like about this video is the last statement by a friend of the doctor. "What is the right approach to dealing with this, how to make sure how you win this battle even if you can't on the ground, but you can win this in spirit.".  It all means that eventually we will all die, it is what we do with the time we have that is important.

This doctor had a brain tumour and through his own research and practice he lived 20 years more after his diagnosis.

Another story about tumeric as a cancer cell killer

Here is another Tumeric success story.

I now take tumeric everyday. I have made a video on how to make tumeric from fresh tumeric.
There are so many testimonies on the internet on the power of tumeric. Even if you are healthy, there is no harm to take this on a daily basis. Here is video how to prepare tumeric for daily consumption.

Tumeric contains a ingredient called curcumin. Tumeric must also be mixed with black pepper, which contains an ingredient that increases absorption of curcumin into the body.

A cancer cell does not act on it own. It depends on the surrounding environment?

A cancer cell does not act on it own. It depends on the surrounding environment. If this is true, what does this mean? It means if we have a cancer cell and if we can change the surrounding environment, the cancer cells can be taught to 'behave' and return to normal.

It also means that cancer develops when the interaction between surrounding cells and 'potential' cancer cells goes haywire. Now this is interesting thought.

Diet, meditation (especially QiGong) all focuses on nourishing cells and the body.

Here Mina Bissell, a chemist and mircobiologist discuss her experiments. This is really thought provoking.

Type 2 Diabetes Medication Complications (esp Cancer)

After a person has been diagnosed with diabetes, his or her physician will recommend certain methods to cope with the condition, including diet modification and exercise. The physician will also prescribe a diabetes medication or medications depending on the severity of the condition. These medications may need to be adjusted based on the patient's response to treatment; however, some of these drugs cause harmful side effects that lead to severe consequences in some cases.

There are six types of oral medications commonly used to treat diabetes. One group is sulfonylureas, which is a classification of drug that stimulates the beta cells located within the pancreas. This results in the pancreas producing more insulin to combat blood glucose levels. Examples to this variety include chlorpropamide, glyburide and glimepiride. The side effects vary and are dependent upon the drug. For instance, glyburide may result in hypoglycemia, blurred vision and nausea.

Another categorization of diabetes medication is meglitinides. Meglitinides increase insulin product by targeting the beta cells in the pancreas, as well. Examples of this type of medication include nateglinide and repaglinide. The side effects vary, but the more common ones are diarrhea, cold-like symptoms and joint pain.

Alpha-glucosidase inhibitors like meglitol and acarbose fall under this category. They act by blocking the breakdown of starches, and in some cases, they slow the digestion of some sugars, such as table sugar. This impediment on digestion occurs in the intestines. These drugs are taken with the first bite of every meal and slow down the elevation of blood sugar levels after eating. Gastrointestinal problems like diarrhea and gas are the most common side effects of these medicines.

DPP-4 inhibitors do not cause hypoglycemia, although they may cause headaches or upper respiratory infection symptoms. Drugs in this category like saxagliptin and sitagliptin work by stopping GLP-1, a naturally occurring compound, from breaking down. This permits GLP-1 to stay in the body and continue to be active for longer periods of time. This prevents glucose levels from dropping, since it is effective when glucose levels are high.

Biguanides are a classification of diabetes medication that prevents the liver from producing more glucose than what is needed. Additionally, biguanides help the muscle tissue to be more receptive to insulin, thus making insulin absorption easier. These drugs can cause diarrhea and other side effects that are generally mild.

The last diabetes medication type is thiazolidinediones, which assist insulin in working better in the fatty tissue and in the muscles. They reduce the amount of glucose produced in the liver, too. They tend to cause mild side effects, such as cold-like symptoms. However, the thiazolidinedione, Actos may cause bladder cancer. In fact, patients who take the drug in large doses or for prolonged periods of time have an increased risk for bladder cancer. Actos treats type II diabetes and has been linked to numerous cases of bladder cancer. In fact, in some countries, the drug has been banned or not prescribed to new patients. France is one country that took action from these findings. They pulled the drug from the market once they conducted their own study on the diabetes medication.
